Emission Master File Types

Emission Master uses several file types as part of the overall operation.  Here are a list of several of the files descriptions.

(1) *.emm - Standard Emission Master process file.  This file is created by Emission Master when the user saves a process model.  Emission Master can reopen a *.emm file to recreate the original process model. This type of process file contains only the models of the process activities and does not contain any chemical, equipment, or control device records.  In order for an *.emm file to be opened, Emission Master and an Emission Master database which contains all of the database records is needed.  Emission Master can open any Emission Master files that have been created using the same or earlier version of the software.

(2)  *.emb - Emission Master back up file.  If Emission Master has been configured in the software to automatically create backups as the software is being operated then an *.emb file is created automatically as the process is being modeled and process activities are created.  If for any reason there is a computer problem while a process is being modeled then Emission Master will attempt to open the *.emb file to recover any lost data.  A back up file can be opened just like a standard Emission Master file and saved as an *.emm file and saved again as a *.emm file.

(3)  *.emd - Emission Master process file with EM data.  Emission Master can save a standard process model using a special *.emd file format.  A *.emd file contains all of the original database records that were used to create the original *.emm file.  A *.emd file can be opened without needing to have the original Emission Master database present at the time when the process was first modeled.  A *.emd file is an excellent way to achieve the entire process model which can then be opened without the original database if needed.  A *.emd file can be sent to an Emission Master user who might not have the original database file.
